Job Description

Seeking a skilled and driven Principal Designer to join a dynamic Consultancy division. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring we consistently meet statutory responsibilities under the Construction, Design, and Management Regulations by coordinating desk risk reviewing meetings and maintaining the associated design risk register. This is a full time, permanent position, based from the Head Office in Kent.

 The duties of the Principal Designer will include:
  • Applying the principles of prevention to identify and eliminate unusual and significant hazards as well as control foreseeable risks.
  • Ensuring all designers, internally and externally, are competent to undertake their role under CDM regulations.
  • Developing compliance reports, building and maintaining excellent relationships with the client.
  • Assisting with procedural development and training roll outs.
  • Visiting sites to monitor progress and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Compiling pre-construction information to ensure all safety critical information is highlighted.
  • Calculating the hours required to undertake the Principal Design role on a project-by-project basis and ensuring the clients are up to date with this
What skills and experience do you need?

A qualified Principal Designer who has experience within the highways sector. You will have a minimum of a HNC or equivalent NVQ level 4 in civil engineering. You must hold a Health and Safety qualification such as NEBOSH and a full UK driving licence.
