Role Outline

This pivotal role is perfect for a proactive professional who excels at tackling complex challenges, energising teams, and building meaningful client relationships. As the Regional Director/Associate Director, you will be at the forefront of our ecology services, blending technical leadership with strategic oversight to achieve exceptional results. Overseeing the Midlands region and being part of the senior management team within the ecology discipline, you will leverage your skills and experience to drive strategic growth in both your people and our business, focusing on client relationships, collaboration, and staff development.

 In this role, you will generate and respond to tender opportunities, confidently develop client relationships, and support a team of ecologists in the delivery of our important work. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, including planning, placemaking, engineering, transportation, and asset management, you will engage in a broad spectrum of projects and collaborate regularly to deliver challenging and fulfilling projects. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Engagement: Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with both existing and new clients, establishing us as a trusted partner for all nature-related needs.
  • Project Leadership:  Take an active role in projects, providing expert ecological input from initial consultation through to delivery, as well as supporting more junior project managers in the Region and National Team with troubleshooting.
  • Technical Expertise: our team is renowned for his technical excellence and the Regional Director/Associate Director will need to provide high-level technical guidance to the National Team to ensure projects meet regulatory and environmental compliance. They will supervise and review the development of standard technical solutions and verify that outputs meet expected quality standards. They will take a lead on the development of technical excellence and solutions based on relevant best practice and research, including knowledge sharing across the national Ecology team. Experience of Ecological Impact Assessment and Habitat Regulations Assessments. Contribute to planning committees, inquiries and Expert Witness evidence.
  • Team Development: Mentor and inspire team members across the national team, fostering collaboration and professional growth. Lead the mentoring and development of staff in line with strategic goals. Handle line management responsibilities, including timesheet signoff, pastoral care, and duty of care for the technical specialism.
Requirements:
  • An appropriate academic qualification in a related discipline
  • Full Member and Chartership of an appropriate professional body (CIEEM)
  • Demonstrable and relevant experience of the environmental consulting industry including positive leadership skills.
  • Hold a full driving licence.

We operate fully flexible, hybrid working which allows our Environmental specialists to choose where, how and when they work as long as our clients are receiving the high-quality service they expect.  We focus on talent and skills, not postcode.   The role will require working closely with the ecology leadership team, national ecology team, mentoring and managing other consultants and developing relationships with clients and colleagues so may require some time at an office or alternative working space to suit those involved.
