We are often involved from project origination through to completion as well as during asset optimisation and modernization of existing facilities. Our front-end consultancy services offer due diligence transaction services, investment advisory, port master planning, economics, technical and financial feasibility, market studies, concept and outline engineering design support and cargo forecasts and project management consultancy services.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
A vacancy exists for a consultant to play a significant role in the team. Ideally, the candidate would be based in London. The role will require the following skills/attributes:
- Ability to prepare robust excel based analysis, comfortable reviewing and working with complex excel models
- Strong interest in understanding the wider business context in which our clients operate
- Ability to prepare and write good-quality reports
- Strong communication skills and developing client-facing capabilities, confident speaking in front of senior clients
- Good project management skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to interpret the client’s requirements
- Ability to travel overseas for projects (typically we would undertake 2- or 3-day client trips)
- Basic modelling skills for demand and revenue forecasting
- Conference presenting on specialist subjects
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree-level education in an engineering or business-related subject.
- Proven experience in consultancy/advisory-type work
- A comprehensive knowledge of all major relevant software packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
- Strong spoken and written communication skills in English is required while additional language skills would be desirable.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience as a Principal or Associate Consultant, ideally with known and/or recognisable companies in the same competitive sectors
- Ability to work and liaise with a wide range of professionals
- The ability to manage a team to deliver work packages on time and to agreed budgets
- Experience of working as part of a team undertaking a wide range of maritime, ports, logistics and shipping projects
- The ability to prioritise, to achieve deadlines and to work with minimal supervision
- Good spoken and written communication skills. With the ability to liaise with others including public sector officials, members of the public and other senior colleagues
- The ability to manage and motivate all staff within the team
- Willing and able to work on short site assignments throughout the UK, internationally or offshore
- Desire and ability to support other maritime team projects when required
- Develop and foster close working relationships with engineering and technical-focussed colleagues
Although not essential, the following would be desirable:
- Knowledge of crude oil, oil products, LPG and LNG industries
- Previous consulting experience in each of these areas
- Knowledge of other specialist areas, such as tankers, offshore and vessel fleet analysis
- Strong geographic experience and knowledge
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
- Successfully support Technical Directors in Maritime Advisory
- Help mentor younger members of staff
- Support business development activities to secure projects for Maritime Advisory
