Principal or Associate Transport Planner

The Role:

Working with other senior members of the business to win and deliver a wide range of transport planning related projects to private and public sector clients. Projects are likely to range from initial concept / feasibility studies for large masterplan sites to delivering the transport elements of complex planning applications through to supporting detailed design and access strategies being delivered on site.

Seeking a motivated and professional candidate with some or all of the following experience:
  • Development of access strategies for all modes.
  • Experience of understanding and providing solutions to complex transport planning related problems.
  • Production of transport assessments and other supporting planning documentation
  • The analysis of development effects on all modes.
  • Preparation of concise, well-written reports.
  • Preparation of robust, visually engaging supporting material (sketches, drawings, cartography).
  • General knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Manual for Streets, London Cycle Design Standards and other relevant guidelines.
  • Management of small-medium sized projects.
  • Attending technical meetings with clients, design teams and public authorities.
  • Stakeholder and public engagement experience.
  • Ability to provide mentoring and technical support to junior staff (Assistant Consultants and Consultants).
  • Initial experience of winning follow-on work from existing clients.
The Person:

Graduate with a relevant degree, who has:
  • Min 7 years’ experience in the field of transport planning.
  • Good writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in some or all of LINSIG, ARCADY, OSCADY, TRANSYT, PICADY, GIS, Autodesk and Microsoft Office.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to work proactively and use their initiative.

To summarise what I’d really like is someone that has a solid foundation in Development Planning but also has something a little different / a bit extra that goes beyond standard TA writing that they’re interested in and motivated to grow / develop (whether that be urban design, masterplanning, development design etc).

Working with me, you’re probably looking at 5 big TA’s a year for clients like Battersea, Landsec, Barratt, Countryside with the rest of it working with architects, design teams, clients developing transport strategies, masterplans, detailed operational strategies etc.
