Ecologist/ Senior EcologistSussexAs a dynamic and growing business, this is the ideal role for self-motivated and positive-minded Ecologists or Senior Ecologists to join a friendly Sussex based team. The successful applicants will be involved in all areas of our work, supporting clients in vast range of different sectors. Responsibilities include co-ordinating and undertaking protected species surveys and mitigation projects, advising clients of constraints and survey requirements, preparing ecology chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments, and managing a team of ecologists to find commercially efficient and cost-effective project solutions.
Permanent roles (on a full or part time basis) available in a well-appointed converted Sussex barn in the heart of the South Downs National Park. The project-based nature of our work means that there will be a requirement for travel and occasional overnight stays to complete the contract.
This position will provide a great opportunity to lead and deliver complex contracts and support more junior staff, draft high-quality reports and review technical work, as well as support clients and their design teams by identifying solutions to their problems.

To be considered for this role, you will have as essential criteria:
- A full clean UK driving licence.
- A degree or equivalent qualification (N/SVQ Level 5) in Ecology or a related subject.
- Experience in ecological consultancy or equivalent sectors.
- Experience of ecological field survey work.
- Understanding of relevant UK environmental legislation.
- Membership of (or working towards such) the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or equivalent professional body with professional code of conduct.
- Applications are particularly welcome from ecologists who meet the following desirable criteria:
- Hold (or be working towards) one or more Natural England (or other equivalent) protected species licence and/or hold Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) Level 3 or above.
- Experience in preliminary ecological appraisals and/or UKHab surveys.
- Experience of managing projects to deadlines and budget.
- At least 3 years (min 5 for Snr) relevant experience.
